GroundWorks Natural Pet Friendly Ice Melt

Tough on ice. Gentler on paws. Made for Canadian winters.

Winter means icy sidewalks, slippery driveways and plenty of opportunities for our pets to come into contact with ice-melting products. But not all ice melters are created equal!

GroundWorks Natural Ice Melter is a Canadian-made, pet-friendly alternative to traditional ice melt, designed to tackle snow and ice while being safer for the paws that walk across it. Its fertilizer-based formula starts working immediately and remains effective in temperatures as low as -23°C, making it a practical choice for Canadian winters.

Unlike conventional ice melters that can be harsh on paws and surrounding vegetation, GroundWorks is formulated for use around pets and children. When used as directed, it's also safe for lawns, plants, concrete and treated wood. Plus, it won't leave behind that messy, oily residue that can get tracked into your home.

Why We Love GroundWorks

  • Pet Friendly: Formulated for use around dogs, cats and other pets.

  • Works in Cold Weather: Effectively melts snow and ice in temperatures as low as -23°C.

  • Gentler on Your Property: Safe for lawns, plants, concrete and treated wood when used as directed.

  • No Messy Residue: Melts into a colourless, odourless liquid without leaving an oily mess behind.

  • Easy to Use: Starts working immediately on contact with ice and snow.

  • Made in Canada: A Canadian-made solution for our Canadian winters.

How to Use

Clear away loose snow before applying GroundWorks evenly to icy surfaces. Apply approximately 50 to 100 grams per square metre (¼ to ½ cup per square yard). Allow the product to work, then remove loosened ice and slush as needed.

Always follow package directions and avoid overapplication.

A Little Paw Care Goes a Long Way

Even when using a pet-friendly ice melter, we recommend wiping your dog's paws after winter walks to remove any residue they may have picked up along the way. Pet-friendly doesn't mean a product should be eaten, so keep the ice melter stored away from curious noses and mouths.

Because winter is hard enough on our pets' paws. The products we choose shouldn't make it harder.
