Keep Your Furry Family Safe During the Pawlidays

The Pawliday season is here {{ first_name|default:''|title }}, and we know how much fun it can be to celebrate with your furry family members. But with all the food, decorations, and excitement, Christmas can also bring some potential hazards for our pets.

Don’t worry, though! We’ve put together some easy, practical tips to keep your pets safe and your home festive during the holidays. Let’s make this Christmas pawsitively joyful for everyone—four-legged family members included!

🍗 Festive Feasts: What's Safe to Share and What's Not 🍗

It’s tempting to share the love (and the food!) with your floofs, but not all holiday treats are safe for them. Here’s a quick guide on what’s okay to share and what to avoid.

SAFE

🍗 Plain, unseasoned turkey with no skin or bones

🍠 Sweet potatoes without any added sugar or spices

💚 Green beans that have been gently steamed or sautéed with no spices or fresh before being cooked

🥕 Carrots can be served the same way as green beans

🧄 Garlic is actually good for dogs and in some cases even medicinal though it's usually used during the flea and tick season to keep the pests away

🥦 Broccoli is a tasty snack raw or cooked like the carrots and beans

🍓 Berries give us a great antioxidant boost and are usually a furry guy fave

🚫 AVOID 🚫

🍫 Chocolate of any kind can be toxic for furry guys, if you want to do some baking for the furry guys, opt for carob in baking for your floofs

🥜 Macadamia nuts are highly toxic to dogs and we want to avoid them, other nuts can be tasty and healthy in moderation and in appropriate sized pieces to avoid choking

🧅 Onions of any kind, leeks, chives or shallots are all toxic, we avoid all onions

🍻 Alcohol of any kind is toxic so be sure to keep those holiday drinks far away from curious paws

🦴 Bones and fat trimmings should always be avoided, when bones are cooked they can splinter or shard and cause damage, cooked fat is rendered and can cause serious health issues in the furry guys. This applies to gravy as well, keep the furry guys Christmas snacks plain.
❌ Anything with Xylitol. Xylitol is an artificial sweeter that can be found in peanut butter, gum, toothpaste and some candies. It is extremely toxic for dogs.

If you're ever unsure about sharing a certain food with your furry guys, stick with their healthy, pet-friendly treats to keep them safe over the Pawlidays!

🎄 Decorating Dangers: How to Pet-Proof Your Holiday Décor 🎄

Decorating is one of the best parts of the season, but it can be tricky with curious floofs around. Keep your home beautiful and safe with these tips!

🎄 Make sure your Christmas tree is secured so it doesn’t topple if your dog gives it a nudge or your cat decides to climb it.

🎄 Keep fragile or breakable ornaments out of paw’s reach and avoid tinsel or ribbons, which can be very dangerous if swallowed.

🎄 Tape down or cover cords to prevent chewing, and use pet-safe LED lights to avoid burns.

🎄 If you have a real tree, block access to the water—tree water can contain harmful chemicals and fertilizers if the furry guys drink it.

🎁 Presents: A Pet Hazard in Disguise 🎁

We all love beautifully wrapped presents, but remember, ribbons, bows, tags and even wrapping paper can be tempting and dangerous for the furry guys to chew on. Keep an eye on them while they’re around the tree and clean up wrapping paper scraps quickly to avoid any mishaps!

😴 A Quiet Space for Your Pet 😴

With all the excitement and guests, your furry guys might need a little space of their own. Set up a quiet, cozy area where your pet can relax, away from the noise and crowds. A comfy bed, some toys, and fresh water will help them feel safe and calm amidst the Pawliday buzz.

🕯️ Pet-Safe Candles for a Festive Vibe 🕯️

Everyone loves the scents of Christmas—whether it’s warm vanilla or the smell of fresh Holly Berry. Unfortunately, many candles contain ingredients that are harmful to pets! Candles made of paraffin wax and scented with artificial fragrances are harmful for our furry family members and should be avoided.

But candles always make Christmas feel cozy and that’s why we love our One Fur All Pet Safe Candles! We burn our candles all year round and love the festive holiday scents like Snow Fall, Gingerbread, and new this year, Orange Spice! Made from 100% natural soy wax, they’re free from harmful chemicals, making them safe to burn around the furry guys. Plus, they help neutralize pet odours so your home smells fresh and festive. The large candles have up to 60 hours of burn time so you'll be sure to have a festive smelling Pawliday!

These easy tips will keep all the furry guys in your home safe during the Pawlidays so everyone can enjoy the festive season! 🎄🐾
