When Was The Last Time You Rotated Your Protein?

If you said “never” this information is for you! 😀

If you’ve been with us for a while you already know we’re big supporters of rotating proteins, food types, supplements and brands! Variety is the spice of life and that goes for the furry guys too! Building a diverse diet is key to optimal health! 👍

So what are the benefits of rotating proteins? Take a peek👇

🐾 Eating the same protein for a lifetime increases our chances of developing intolerances which if left unaddressed can turn into allergies. If we continue to feed just one protein and our furry family continues to develop intolerances or allergies, eventually we’ll run out of proteins! Rotating proteins can help us avoid this!

🐾 Eating a variety of proteins ensures we’re getting all of the amino acids of a balanced diet. Different proteins offer different nutrients, vitamins, minerals and most importantly, different amino acids! Our dogs and cats require 22 different amino acids to thrive. Kitties can synthesize 11 on their own while dogs can synthesize 12. They rely on animal proteins to get the rest of the required amino acids to thrive! Rotating proteins makes sure we’re getting all the essential amino acids in the diet!

🐾 Food fatigue is real! Who wants to eat the same thing, every single day for your entire lifetime? Nobody! Our pets don’t want to either! If they were left to their own devices, they would never eat the same thing day in and day out! If your furry family member is losing interest or is what some folks call “a grazer”, chances are good they’re suffering from food fatigue because we’re not offering variety!

If you’ve been serving the same protein for a while, it’s time to change things up! Switching proteins every bag or box is a great habit to get into! You can also blend your proteins! On any given day, Zaner is eating a minimum of four different proteins in one bowl! 👍

If this is the first time you’re trying new proteins, do it gradually so as not to cause any tummy upset! ✅
