Is Your Pet Eating CRAP?
It's that time of year when we all start to indulge on the tasty treats that may not be the best option, for us or the furry guys! π¬
This acronym for foods to avoid is totally applicable to the furry members of our family! π
π Carbohydrates are typically found in an ultra-processed dry diet. When traditional kibble is 50-70% carbs and the furry guys eat it every day, they are eating an excessive amount of carbs.
π Refined Sugar is something we're told to avoid and because our pets have no biological requirement for carbs, when they eat carbs, the carbs turn to sugar and sugar is what feeds disease. They should be avoiding sugar too!
π¬ Artificial foods are foods not normally found in nature. They're typically filled with synthetic ingredients that we can't pronounce and have no idea what they are. Many treats for the furries fall into this category and can also contain toxic ingredients.
π Processed foods when it comes to the furry guys usually involves high heat to manufacture the food. This is again where ultra-processed, highly heated foods lose all of their nutritional value and are mostly filler and carbs that does not nourish a body.
So how do we avoid serving CRAP to the furries? π
π₯¦ Include fresh, whole foods in as many meals per week as you can!
π Provide variety! You don't want to eat the same thing everyday and the furry guys don't either!
π₯ Look for natural options for both food and treats!
π₯ Include food right from your own kitchen! The parts of the fresh produce we chop off are great additions to our furry family member's bowls!
We're always happy to help if you're looking for ways to improve your pet's diet and avoid feeding CRAP! π
