3 Easy Ways to Level Up Your Bowl
You've heard us say it! If you're in the store regularly, you've heard us say it a lot! Level up your bowl!
So why are we always encouraging our progressive pet parents to level up their bowl? It's simple! We encourage less processed food and more fresh, whole food nutrition! It's just like you've heard your whole life, an apple a day keeps the doctor away!
Our pets are similar to us regarding their overall nutrition. We want them to avoid processed food and thrive on fresh, whole foods! It's like having a side of veggies with your burger instead of fries. The burger might be a processed option, but your veggies will still give you more nutritional value than the fries.
Let's get to it! How do we level up the bowl? We've got many options, for even the pickiest eaters to level up their bowl and get them some added nutrition to make and keep them healthy and we know we can extend their lives by levelling up the bowl!
Fresh cruciferous veggies such as cauliflower, cabbage, kale, garden cress, bok choy, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and similar green leaf vegetables are a fantastic way to level up your bowl and reduce the blood sugar spike a traditional kibble causes by about 20 points! If your furry guy doesn't love raw veggies, gently steam them or sauté them in a virgin olive oil. If you're cooking them, once cooled add them to your pet's bowl. Veggies can make up 25% of what's in the bowl!
Bone broth! If you've been in store, you know it's one of our favourite options to level up the bowl and for good...no, scratch that, for GREAT reasons too!! Bone broth is a fantastic addition to your pet's bowl because it naturally detoxes the liver! Do you know what that helps with? Tear stains! When the tear stains are caused by toxins in the liver, you'll notice a reduction or complete elimination of tear stains just by adding bone broth to your pet's bowl! It also helps with skin and coat, bones and joints, heart and nervous system and can also help with leaky gut. An added bonus is if your furry guy is a bit under the weather, giving them bone broth will provide them with nutrition when they don't feel like eating!
Goat's Milk is another favourite! Adding either bone broth or goat's milk is a fantastic way to increase your pet's hydration! Cats' and dogs' bodies are about 65% moisture and unlike humans, they are designed to obtain the majority of their water from the foods they eat. By adding goat's milk (79% moisture) to your pet's diet, they will be gaining needed moisture as well as the benefits from the raw nutrients it provides. Goat's milk is a natural source of probiotics which helps keep a furry tummy healthy and it's a natural antihistamine which also makes it a natural tummy tamer!
